Congratulations to our JROTC Drill Team Cadets for their outstanding performance last weekend at the Florida state JROTC drill championships held in Lakeland, FL. They competed in eight different events including Color Guard, unarmed drill, and armed drill, and are excited to report that they earned a 12th, 11th, 9th, 9th, and a remarkable 4th place finish. The 4th place team commanded by Cadet Major Chrishana Williams was comprised of six Cadets making their first trip to states. The state of Florida has over 400 Army JROTC programs, with over 30,000 Cadets, by far the most of any state in the nation. Unlike high school sports there are no classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, etc.) so they are competing against schools/JROTC programs with 3000+ students with JROTC enrollment of 300+ Cadets. Any results in the top 10 are amazing, so with 5 results in the “top 10ish”, a great accomplishment, and a reflection of their discipline, commitment to excellence and outstanding mentorship and training from MSG Kerrison. Hooah!
